Save the Planet - The Green Standard.
from The Enterprise news insertWednesday, April 22, 2009
When Paula Keif was expanding her Marshfiels home, she couldn't find local businesses to supply the eco-friendly icient materials she wanted. After a lot of research, she launched an online directory of businesses selling eco-friendly products and services in Massachusetts.
There are many shades of "green". So how does Keif decide which businesses are eco-friendly enough to be listed in GoGreenWebDirectory.com?
First, she includes businesses that meet “green” standards for their industry, for example, restaurants certified by the Green Restaurant Association. When there are no industry “green” standards, she researches the industry, prepares a list of questions, interviews the business owner and makes the decision.
“I have turned down a business if it didn’t meet my criteria of being green,” said Keif. “I want to include businesses that share the same passion that I have. But I’m not the Green Police. It’s important to proceed one step at a time; ‘green’ is a journey.”
Businesses that make the cut get a free listing of their name and address in Gogreenwebdirectory.com. Businesses that pay an annual fee of $200 to $350 have their Web site, phone number and a description of their goods and services added to the listing. Keif welcomes suggestions of “green” companies and non-profit organizations. Call 1-877-304-4493, extension 11, or send an email to paula@gogreenwebdirectory.com.
